Ugly Porch Make Over

Not at all a good first impression.  I would have the posts go all together but I don't see me getting those out of the ground all by my lonesome.  What I will do is just find replacement tops.  I have looked at some solar lights and things at Lowe's which I really like and think would make the damned things look a wee bit appropriate but I am pretty sure that won't happen either.  What I really would like is some sort of iron sphere at the top of each one.  I have no idea where to find an iron sphere much less two.

Here are the old caps.  An unsatisfactory idea.  One the wood bases just rotted away and two the silly things were never adhered properly so every strong wind blew them willy nilly.  That doesn't even take in the fact as they are copper they are very soft and it didn't take long before children, wind, people passing by, etc.... dented them all up.

I wish I could have new doors but that again isn't going to happen.  All I have ever really wanted was two matching wooden storm doors but for some reason I am supposed to want ugly aluminum doors that aren't the right color in the first place then get painted which low and behold they aren't as easy to paint as you might have liked them to be and in the end what I have is to mismatched doors with crappy paint jobs.  Another thing that is totally a bad presentation.  The color I am good with.  Unfortunately it has been long enough since the railing have been painted that they will need to be redone.  Yea, that also means scraping!  I'm so lucky.  Last but deff not least, in fact it is really high on my priority list, is getting away from funky porch carpet.  I really hate this stuff and don't care if I have to replace every board underneath it is going.  And that will leave painting the the floor and steps.  I need to come up with a color for this.

This is my other painting project.  I also want it fixed.  Well I have wanted it fixed forever but now I want it to happen.  I had all the pieces and I am pretty sure they even moved to Georgia and back with us but alas I have no clue where they are any longer.  Anyway I think they could be fixed with a cable and who knows maybe I will figure it out all by myself.  I haven't figured out what color yet yellow, purple, light blue, light green......I think I am liking the light green.  The neat thing is if it was fixed I could move them from this little area use it for something else and actually use these for sitting in.  Huh.... who would have thought..

In the beginning I called this my week for painting.  I am actually thinking it will be two weeks of painting.  So for I have made zero progress.  Today I have the neighbors house to clean and paper work to fill out for school next year.  I have scrips to pick up and tomorrow is free lawn waste day and I still have a few things That need to get pulled and stuffed into bags.....which reminds me...

my poor yucca.  It was totally abused last year and instead of pulling the whole thing out of the ground when it was nearly out it got left so I have a half dead, half living yucca.  I know most people don't care for these things but you know this one has really grown on me.  I love the big stalks full of yellow flowers.  What I don't like are the dead parts and the way it is totally in the way of the lawn mower or weed eater when I am doing the lawn.  I have decided that I want the dead parts dug up and then collect some giant rocks to put around it to keep the leaves clear of lawn machines.

I think this is doable.....
